Star Wars Maze

All foreign service families have the shared experience of being buried in boxes and dealing with the stress of a houseful of boxes. So what better occasion to recreate the horror of a move than Halloween.

My office organized a maze using moving boxes. For three weeks prior to the event, we collected boxes from incoming employees. We collected several thousand boxes and filled up the tennis court in the Embassy compound.

Star Wars is a recurring theme in our home. Colin is either humming a Star Wars tunes or swinging at us with his light saber. I thought a good overdose of Star Wars might cure him. A big thanks to my sister, Leslie, who mailed us a box full of Star Wars costumes.

This is the maze once completed. At dark we passed out glow sticks, had Star Wars-themed music playing, and let the kids make their way through the boxes.

You guys ALWAYS have the coolest family costumes.

Seth is obsessed with Star Wars, constantly asking me if the force is real. He was Annikan for Halloween. He would have sold his soul to go to a maze like that. I'm not even showing him, because he will cry. Get your next assignment in Arizona so we can live closer to each other!!!
